VIEWING THE MOUNTAIN FROM ABOVE

Struggles are real in this life here we know,

Climbing mountains to the top from below

The challenge lies at our heart’s door within

Will you take the path of life, or path of sin?

The decision is ours, and it is ours, it is alone.

The easy pathway, or that filled with stones.

Ah, you say, the smooth path seems so right.

So perfect that one has not the need to fight.

To reach to the top of the mountain on high

So perfect one traveling it would seem to fly.

So much one need not as to put up a fight.

But please don’t’ be deceived so my friend.

It can lead your life to an untimely fatal end.

Look upon the path filled with jagged edges.

Look do you see upon also the many ledges?

Now forward go praying as you journey on

Taking Jesus hand, leaning of the Lord alone.

TIMES ARE A’CHANGE’IN

HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS GOING ROUND, ALL ABOUT THE COUNTRY, CITY, AND TOWN?

TIME FOR A ‘PRAYING IF EVER I HAD SEEN IN MY LIFE, FOR THINGS ARE A TERRIBLE SIGHT!

NEVER A ‘FORE HAS THERE BEEN ON EARTH, SO MANY THINGS THAT TROUBLE AND HURT!

THINGS THEY ARE A’CHANG’EN, YES INDEED, BROTHER AND SISTERS, GET ON YOUR KNEES.

PEOPLE GO’ IN ROUND NOT CARING ONE BIT, NOSIREE, GOING ROUND SHOOTEN’ OUT THEIR LIP!

TIME TO PRAY WITHOUT CEASING MY FRIENDS, FOR THE TIME IS EVER MORE A’COMIN TO AN END.

BEING MEAN AND AS CONTRARY AS CAN BE, NOT CARING WHO HEARS WHAT, OR WHAT THEY SEE.

NARY THOUGHT FOR A SINGLE SOUL DO THEY HAVE, THINGS HAPPEN’IN ARE A’GETT’IN PRETTY BAD.

LOOK IN THE GOOD BOOK IF YOU WILL AND READ, THERE GOD’S WARNINGS GIVEN, DO SURELY HEED.

ALL WILL ANSWER IN TIME THOUGH SOME MAY THINK NOT, YOU MIGHT JUST HAVE AN AFTERTHOUGHT.

JESUS PAID THE DEBT FOR ALL ON THE CROSS, NO EXCUSE CAN BE FOUND FOR ANY ONE BEING LOST.

OUR LIFE ON THIS EARTH IS EVER FLEETING, CLING TO THE FATHER WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT AND BEING.

The Lord our anchor this night by you and me

Now as each other’s side we must now leave

Together our hearts are entwined by love divine

We will meet again we know in just a matter of time

Trusting our Father above knows what lies ahead

All our worries to him we will gladly give instead

THE GIFT OF A FRIEND

Each time I came to your home to visit

There we would sit and pass the time

You made me feel like family indeed

Oh, so many memories, so very divine.

You would smile and laugh so sweet

Lightening my day as we talked together

Your gentle nature shown in your eyes

Indeed, we were two birds of a feather

We were like children happy as can be

With no need to pretend with one another

Open and honest right down to our core

Treating me as had my very own mother.

You always had time to spend with me

Never possibly could there ever be again

Even when the miles separated us apart

My gentle, loving, kind beautiful friend

Remembering our good times together in past

Memories together will always bring a smile

And the love of a true friend I truly cherish,

Though we must part, it is but for a little while

LIFE’S FLEETING THOUGHTS or WHAT DO YOU DO WITH A PERSON LIKE ME, GOD?

I DON’T HAVE A CLUE IN THE WORLD HOW I’M GOING TO MAKE IT TO THE NEW WORLD TO COME

I FIND MYSELF WANTING TO DO RIGHT AND THEN THERE I GO, AND EVERYTHING COMES UNDONE

AND THE QUESTION OF ‘HOW MUCH LONGER DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE LAYS HEAVY ON MY MIND

COULD BE THAT EVEN NOW I AM PAST THE POINT OF NO RETURN EVEN AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME

I’M LOSING HOPE FOR I SEE NO CHANGE HARD AS I MIGHT TRY, I JUST SEEM WORSE THAN BEFORE

TOO MUCH OF THE ‘OLD MAN’ LEFT INSIDE WEARING, TEARING DOWN, MAKING IT AWFULLY SORE

I’VE BEEN AT THIS OVER SEVEN DECADES YET NOT ABLE TO SEE THE LIGHT I SO DESPARTELY NEED

LORD, HELP ME, I’M BEGGING YOU, TAKE PITY, BRING ME TO YOU SO AT YOUR SIDE I CAN EVER BE

I CAN’T GET TO YOU; I’VE TRIED AND FAILED SO MANY TIMES OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN

FIGHTING, FALLING DOWN  QUICKLY SOON GROWING WEARY, BODY MIND AND SPIRIT WEAR THIN

I  CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY IT’S SO EASY THAT I FAIL TO KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS YOU GAVE

LORD, I DON’T WANT TO HAVE THIS AS MY TESTIMONY I DIE WITH, WHEN I AM LAYING IN MY GRAVE

I CAN’T LEAD OTHERS WITHOUT FEELING GUILTY KNOWING I AM NOT THE PERSON I PROFESS TO BE

NO GOOD WITHIN MY BEING IS SEEN, ITS’ SO OVERWHELMINGING THAT MY SOUL WANTS TO FLEE

I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH MORE OF THE TORTURE I CAN BEAR  MY MORAL BEING IS DECLINING

TRULY THIS IS ABOUT THE LAST THING I MIGHT SAY OR DO FOR SURELY, I AM NOT FAR FROM DYING

WHAT THIS POEM MIGHT DO I’LL NEVER REALLY KNOW BUT I NEEDED TO EXPRESS MYSELF TO YOU

YOUR WORD TELLS EACH ONE OF US ALL MANKIND INDEED IN THIS LIFE WHAT ONE OUGHT TO DO

SPEAK FROM OUR HEARTS TO A LOVING FATHER WHO PROMISES NEVER TO FORSAKE OR  DEPART

BY PRAYING, YOUR WORD AND OUR WORD COME TOGETHER INSIDE CHAMBERS OF ONE’S HEART

PITY FROM OTHERS I DESIRE NOT, THEY HAVE THEIR OWN DEMONS DAILY WITH WHICH TO WREST

SO MUCH MORE TRAILS, TRIBULATIONS AND HEARACHES THAN I COULD EVER THINK TO EVEN GUESS

AND AGAIN, I JUST WONDER HOW IN THE WORLD I COULD BE SO SELFISH TO KEEP THINKING OF ME

I MUST DECEASE WHILE YOU MUST INCREASE, NO OTHER WAY WILL THIS SOUL HEAVENS GATES SEE

AT THE CROSSROADS OF ‘NOW OR NEVER’ IS THE CROSSROAD I VIEW WITHING THIS MORTAL MIND

LORD,YOUR PITY I WOULD ASK, FOR YOU SAID YOU TAKE PITY UPON MANKIND SO NAKED AND BLIND

MAY MY EYES SEE, EARS HEAR, MY NAKED BODY BE CLOTHED,  FOCUSED ON THE WAY, TRUTH, THE LIFE

FOR I KNOW THAT THIS COUILD BE MY LAST DAY HERE ON PLANET EARTH, PERHAPS EVEN THIS NIGHT

EYES OF FAITH

Doest, thou worry even now after all the time you have outwardly professed.

Trust in the Lord, witness to the world and  give your all and nothing less?

How does the world bring to you such concern with day-to-day living my child?

Causing your mind to ponder what your fate shall be along life’s weary miles.

I, God, have made plans regarding thee afore thy conception in thy mother’s womb.

Look forward to each day, walk in sunlight rather than darkness of gloom.

For my Son very soon will return, to bring to heavens kingdom those who love,

God, the Father in heaven, who is waiting and just about ready above.

To give command for his children to come home round about his throne.

No more shall be sounds of crying, tears of pain, nor be their heard groans.

Keep thy ways in all that thou doest and lean not to thine own ways.

Believing My word year after year, month after month, day after day.

For there is prepared the most beautiful place for you to dwell in and stay.

And it shall not be long before my family of saints shall be on their way.

To dwell in heavenly mansions upon high, my Son, Jesus, has prepared for you.

Trust in God’s word, looking toward the future with eyes of faith, and view.

THE MASTERS PROMISE

This too will pass,

I hear my Saviour’s voice say alas.

Through tears of pain look to the light,

For the dawn that comes after the darkest of nights.

My child I am with thee though the valley be low,

Will you trust me wherever you should go?

For I shall never forsake the sheep in my fold,

If it were not true I would have told you so.

You never thought you would feel this way,

But you shall overcome this too, to be with me one day.

SHADOWS                                                                                 

What do I see,  

What can it possibly be?

Day is passing, night closing in,

The bell tis about ready to ring.

Day is gone, night is falling,

Our Lord is calling.

A new day upon us is dawning.

Look at the hourglass, how the sand falls so steadily! 

With the lower half now almost full, not much on top to see.

Does each grain measured consist of days, months, or years?

All I know is that the time of Jesus return is ever drawing near.

Are our houses in order, our scruples proper, tidy, and washed?

Have we done as instructed by our Lord as to counting the cost?

We must this day ask forgiveness of any wrongdoing on our part.

Believing God will answer our prayer for a clean and new loving heart.

Father, thank you for another day of life on this earth here which we live,

A crown we desire, that when gathered in heaven, to our God we can give.

God’s love so amazing one cannot begin to measure length, width, not depth.

Let all the saints sing on high Gods praises loud and strong with our every breath.

LIFE’S SETTING SUN

I’m a mess this day as you can see

And I don’t know what is happening to me

For I know that there is no reason to feel

This loneliness, for thou art with me still

But I do Lord, I am so sorry Lord, but I do

And I believe that on this earth you did too

It was not that the Father had left you alone

Our human race failed to make you feel at home

We often think of self rather than one another

Forgetting our brother, sister, father and mother

For the cares of this world and such as the like

Till life fades like the setting sun into the night

And oh, how miserable art we of all man kind

Failing to comprehend where to draw the line

Between our want to have to and need to do

By slighting one another Lord, we’ve slighted you

Help us understand how much we each need

To be a part of each other’s life’s consistently

Not just on special occasions, not once in a while

But all the days of our life throughout life’s miles

TAKING REST IN MY LORD
(in lmemory of my friend, Kenny)
Day after day, paths I took seemed to take me many different directions.
Oft times I walked the woods, breathing in the radiance of God’s creation.
One day much fuller the beauty seemed to be, I found self-asking “Why”?
Having asked I soon found the answer to be right in front of my very eyes.

So many times, I fought to go my own way, do my own thing in this world.
Not wanting to bend my will to the will of God, my mind so oft in a whirl.
The Holy Spirit wooing gently none the less “Come drink of the cool water”.
My soul no longer thirst for things of this world, now God is my Father.

And I decided to share God’s love I found by giving literature to others.
For the good news must go to every father, mother, sister, and brother.
Giving them away cost free, praying hands receiving them would only read.
Their eyes might see, and their ears hear what God wants for you and me.

Jesus came to live in my heart, showed me the way, the truth and the life!
I know there is coming a day soon when there never more shall be night.
Evidence all around and about I saw, the sun, moon and stars do declare.
The glory of God, the love of God, for with this world his Son he shared.

Many a wayward child has come to the Father to ask for his forgiveness.
Come to the Father, your request will be granted to this I am his witness.
I am freed at last, from all chains and shackles once holding me sway.
This can be your testimony should you take Jesus as your Saviour today.
